After reading this...

I have NO inclination to read about Sharon in the comics to be honest.

I LOVE copperbadge's writing and this just makes it seem like it's not worth investing the time to get into the pairing.

This comment is the weirdest thing I've ever heard. You're going to pimp someone else's opinion at face value? I mean, I totally get deciding, after reading those, that you don't have any inclination to get into the pairing yourself. But to go around saying "this guy is right!" when you don't actually know for yourself if he's right or not? That's just so bizarre to me.

No, what I mean is that I respect copperbadge's opinion. I'm not saying it's objectively RIGHT or anything but when someone you respect lays out a well-written critique of something, it DOES influence my desire to get into it.

Taking a friend's advice/recommendation for getting into something is hardly unheard of, right?

No, but following up your decision to not get into it by bringing it up in a fandom comm and saying "well, my friend said it's shit..." to a group of potential fans is not great.

Why?

I'm bringing it up because it's a big reason for why I don't want to bother getting into Steve/Sharon. Someone I respect (and that I consider a very good writer) wrote a long, detailed critique of it and I give weight to his opinion.

Just like I might say "I decided not to see Age of Ultron" because my friend told me it was bad if someone made a secret about AoU.

Same thing.

I was a potential fan as well, but given that comics can be quite expensive, I decided not to bother with Steve/Sharon and part of the reason was copperbadge's posts.
