Personally, I think it still has useful classification purposes to separate the two, but imho if we're going to put Asperger's under the umbrella of autism spectrum disorder, we might as well categorize ASPD as a spectrum disorder as well.
I expect we'll the majority rule in the next DSMVI, though.

So yeah, you're probably right about that. No one is going to be making many strides (though there are a few people trying to) with a condition that is marginalized to the extent that ASPD/DSPD/sociopathy/psychopathy/whatever terminology you're using is at the moment.

But that's the whole problem with this nest of snakes here... there are too many politics involved to really go about the business of making the right decision for the people who are actually affected. It sucks, really, because the current system is just not satisfactory, but like hell it's going anywhere any time soon.

Well if it makes you feel any better, I think it's heading that way.... but we'll see. It certainly would make things a lot less shitty for people with so-called low risk conditions who have to suffer because of media sensationalism.
