Yay! Although, everyone assumes that I love it because of the Mulder/Scully extreme flirtiness. I actually didn't give a shit about that, because I didn't ship Mulder/Scully. But the actual story, of the alien who wanted to play baseball and his human cop friend, is my favorite alien-related story of any kind in the history of all sci-fi I have ever read or watched. I absolutely bawled when he starts laughing in delight upon realizing he's bleeding human blood.

You know, to this day I can't quite put my finger on what makes Gillian so unforgettable, it's one of those things that there's just no words for.

I think the fact that you can't put your finger on it IS the same part that is so unforgettable. When there's that moment when you want to explain it by summarizing what happens, and you're like "wow, no, wait, an explanation of what happens does not even begin to convey what is so stunning about it" -- I think that's the sign that you've hit upon some kind of powerful idea that can only be properly communicated through fiction and/or visual performance.
