That doesn't logically follow at all. People disliking the existence of something doesn't mean "we need that thing!".

People acting like feminism isn't needed haven't witnessed or experienced DV first-hand.

So you feel no guilt at all about telling pure, blatant lies? And erasing domestic violence survivors' experiences? You're shading pretty close to DV apologism by saying "members of X group could never have experienced DV!" so what, you're saying they're lying when they tell their experiences?

So is there some huge crowd of people who've witnessed domestic violence and don't think feminism is needed? Or are you saying that you've witnessed domestic violence and don't think feminism is needed? I don't get where you're coming from here--it just seemed bizarrely vehement relative to the original (admittedly strong) comment.)

I don't get where you're coming from either. You seem to agree with the OP, that it's fine to say that people can't have experienced domestic violence if they hold a certain political belief. I honestly find that it pretty repulsive that you jump to the defense of that, and even label someone calling it out as "bizarrely vehement" for daring to question it.

I just took it as someone ranting and talking in extremes. Like when someone says "A conservative is a liberal who's been mugged," they don't mean that every single conservative everywhere used to be a liberal and then got mugged. I guess you're taking it as meant to be an literal statement . . . I dunno, even on FS, I wouldn't expect someone to say something like that literally.
