Re: Socks when working out/exercising

Ankle sock is fine by me, provided it fits my big feet properly and doesn't start sliding down my heel (THE WORST, especially when you're running). I'd probably not want to deal with a sock pulled up too high either. I'm really not about the fashion when I work out though, I don't go to the gym socially and listen to music and do my own thing, don't think about anything besides utility and comfort.

Speaking of gym clothes though, does anyone else have trouble running in shorts? Especially those dumb women's short shorts? I don't know if it's because my thighs are kinda big and I don't have any gap to speak of, but my thighs touch as I run and that makes the shorts material ride higher and higher up my leg, forcing me to continuously pull them down lest it look like I'm just wearing underwear. I even buy longer, knee-length guy shorts and the fabric will still run up, though not as bad as with the women's shorts.

Running shorts

I've seen women's running shorts that are basically regular 'loose' shorts over something that's like bike shorts: they're sewn together at the inseam, which keeps the top layer from riding up.

Bike shorts, like spandex ones? I haven't tried them because I don't like how my legs look in them, but if they had loose shorts overtop that might help. I just don't get how other women can run in them, unless they have like a leg gap.

Try searching for "dual layer" or "2 in 1" women's running shorts -- Nike makes some, I'm sure there must be other manufacturers.

Skorts are making a comeback too.

I don't have a thigh gap either and this never happens to me in shorts o_O

But then again people have all different kinds of running styles.
