If your word processor can save as HTML or RTF, you can upload the actual file (the way you can on FFnet), or just copy and paste in .

Ao3 suffers from "too many tags" but that's due to the influx of tumblrites.

I believe I've seen some site skins that will hide the non-canonical custom tags, which I would think should filter out a lot of that nonsense.
