Re: Suffering from a serious failure to launch (a writer's block thread, not an impotency thread)

Not writer's block but job block, life block, whatever. Completing college took me twice as long as normal because of an at-time undiagnosed mental illness, I'm better now, I have a diploma, I got help to find internships and pass job interviews, but I'm now 30, never held a real job, and it's already the second time that an internship that ought to carry on to a job offer... fizzles out. I'm told that yes, I did very well as an intern but no, they can't keep me and will hire someone else instead. Now I'm questioning my abilities and thinking they lie to me, I didn't do well and they're too chicken to honestly say so, I'm losing confidence in myself, and how will one convince a potential employer to trust them to do good if they're not confident in themself in the first place? To top it off, I just turned 30 and the likelihood of getting a first job dwindles more and more as I get older and older.
I want a real job, I want an as-normal-as-can-be life, but it seems it's just not meant to be, I am and will stay a failure forever. Unless I die, maybe.

You're not a failure. You got internships! That's more than most of the people I know can do. You finished college. The job market is pretty bad. It's probably not anything you're doing wrong. The competition is just ridiculous now.
