I have no horse in this race, but I don't know why it keeps getting compared to urination. For the most part, you're in control of when and where you pee. Menstruation is going to occur whether you like it or not. You can't hold in your blood by will alone.

It gets compared to urination because urination is a necessary biological function. Yes, you can hold your pee for a little while but at some point, you have to evacuate your bladder, and doing that is considered so shameful and terrible that you can wind up as a registered sex offender for doing it in the wrong place at the wrong time.
