Really? I was just thinking the opposite. All it takes IRL is a change of address and not many other friends in common, or for all of them to move at once. Where I live, people move for work out of necessity all the time and it's almost impossible to keep contact if both sides don't really try.

On the internet, it's so much easier. I usually have a couple of emails and several blog addresses for each of my internet friends. If one doesn't work any more, the other usually does.
