I just came here to request this as well.

Seriously, I get anons occasionally coming for help with depression or whatever but a suicide help form? Especially with the whole passive "HOW DO I COMMIT SUICIDE" where you know any serious comment you're going to get is to tell you not to do it. like wtf. Can we ban suicide threads all together?

I'm not sure about that. I don't think banning any/all suicide threads is the answer.

If things start getting pro-suicide then it merits freezing I think, but right now it's all people telling OP to not do it and some people talking ABOUT suicide but not encouraging or glorifying it.

Not sure this sub-thread is helping. Calling someone who is seriously considering suicide a dick is perhaps not the best thing to do.

I don't see them calling the OP an asshole, more calling the action an asshole-like action. (OP hasn't actually taken the action though and seems to not be planning to.)

If these people are going to come here, and we're not going to tell them to fuck off, we should be allowed to encourage them.

Nope.

You can encourage people to go away without telling them to kill themselves, you know! There are lots of ways to express displeasure without bringing up suicide.

"This is not a good place to get suicide advice, please go seek help OP" does both and isn't even mean!
