I hate cliff hangers. Not just because of the tension of worrying about characters all summer but also because the storylines are so often forced and wrapped up in a terrible manner the next season. They're rarely done well as the new season will have a new focus and the cliff hanger is a loose end from the year before. The tone will be different. Lots of times the ramifications of the cliff hanger are also dropped so they become meaningless drama.

Also, the fan theories generated over 3-4 months can often be better than the actual conclusion of the cliff hanger, which is another letdown.
