What? If you're AIRT you've confused me. I don't get the idea of punishing yourself by doing something preferable over something less preferable if the idea is truly to punish yourself.

Is it a self-harm thing I don't understand?

You're the one putting words in my mouth there. Nowhere did I say "I don't want to", but you assumed I would say that from the get-go for some reason. Also your argument is I should do something I don't want to as a punishment, but you yourself suggested working out because I want to gain weight - so that would be doing something good for me, yes? Achieving something I want? Obviously something more preferable?

But most of all I think it is really weird that you're trying to discuss with me which way to punish myself would make the most sense, as if it is a rational thing to do and I really should be looking for the most efficient way to achieve it or something.

All in all, I do believe you're terribly confused about what your point really is.
