(Anonymous) 2015-05-14 01:11 am (UTC)(link)I know this to be true, because I am a woman and a feminist and I STILL think sexist shit against women sometimes because it is so ingrained in our society. And I feel bad about it, but sometimes these things just pop up in my brain anyway.

(Anonymous) 2015-05-14 02:01 am (UTC)(link)I read a quote once (which ofc I can't find now) that basically went along the lines of "it's not the initial thought that defines you, it's how you feel about that thought."
So like you say, certain things are so ingrained that they're bound to appear as knee-jerk thoughts or reactions from time to time; it's catching yourself doing it and realizing that they're not a line of thinking that you need to adhere to or follow that's the important part in changing your views.
