I don't find either paring to be likable, tbh.

I also find it super lazy writing that Natasha has an instacrush on Bruce and that ALL of the Avengers put their two cents in on "how they knew" they were a thing. Oh, and Natasha asking Fury if she set them up on purpose for what was actually a SAVE THE WORLD MISSION.

It felt like I was being beaten over the head with "YOU WILL LIKE THIS" by Whedon.

Sorry if that sounded a bit muddled. I meant that Bruce and Nat are likeable as individuals, while, at least in the few episodes I saw them where they were together, Buffy and Spike were not.

I still think the problem us less the pairing itself than how he wrote it. She had more chemistry with the Hulk than Bruce Banner in the movie, it seemed to me. I think it would have been interesting if she'd liked him as a colleague and slowly got to know him and then realize she could like him despite how she felt about the hulk. Instead were given a crush with no basis and whedon cramming something down our throats as quickly and annoyingly as possible. The fact she liked him because Banner (opposed to Hulk) tried to avoid fights was an interesting idea...that was never drawn upon again despite the "let's run away" that just seemed incredible out of character for the real Natasha, more like a part she was trying to play than her.

Amen to that, it was definitely rushed and that made the whole thing come across as a bit weird. We go straight from Natasham being scared of Bruce/the Hulk in the first movie to her suddenly being super in love with him and it makes no sense. I really wish we'd seen how they had reached the lullaby thing. If they'd built it up over one more movie, I could get behind it but they completely screwed up what could have been a really good thing. (Massive shame, really, since Bruce is my favourite and it's nice to see him getting some love. It just would have been nicer to see him getting some love that made sense.)
