I mean...it is that, and I don't think it's really pretended otherwise. The people working on it have been pretty upfront about their intentions to make basically banjo-threeie with different characters. I definitely was a little apprehensive at first, worried it would just be purely nostalgia grabbing, but it has such a hugely talented team behind it and I'm really feeling optimistic! I trust these guys to know what they're doing.

The designs look so lifeless.

I legitimately thought it was a promotional picture of an old PlayStaton era game I wasn't aware of.
terabient: Anime-styled profile pic that is kinda, sorta like me (Default)

I can't drum up much enthusiasm for this, either. I'm pretty lukewarm on Rare games as a whole...well, I guess I am a little excited for new David Wise tracks. :)

It's a bit troubling that whole game genres can't get funding from the big-name publishers anymore. At least Kickstarter is shaping up to be a viable alternative for some projects.

Text: As a gamer, I know I should encourage new IP in this day and age, but I'd feel a lot better about this if it didn't look/feel like a blatant attempt to "file the serial numbers off" of Banjo-Kazooie with a touch of "grabbing those nostalgia bucks".

I just home the game is good.

B!S I'm not really a huge fan of B-K either. It was fun, but not a classic in my book.

I just took a look at the staff list and saw the creative director worked on Viva Pinata and all I could think was BUT WHY NOT ANOTHER PINATA GAME.

Well, that's what it is. From the sounds of it, Playtonic is going in this direction first, since they know their fans want a 3D, Banjo-style game, and from there, they'll branch out into other genres and styles. It makes sense from a financial perspective, and it's clearly worked.

I'm super hyped for Yooka-Laylee, since I'm a massive fan of Rare in general, and many of my favorite games were worked on by this team. That said, I also want Rare to work on Banjo themselves! Give me all of the Rare-styled games, basically.
