Re: Convention thread!!!

Anime cons used to be the highlight of my high school years. I don't mean that I was depressed or anything, it's just that anime cons were just insanely exhilarating to me. I love cosplaying, meeting other geeks, buying useless merch that I never did anything with, all of it. I went in early college but then all my friends got too cool for it, and I didn't ever want to go alone. As I got older I also had that nagging feeling that maybe I was too old for those things, and cosplay, and all. But it seems at Comic Con, it's a lot more "all ages" atmosphere, so maybe at mid-twenties if I go, I wouldn't be an ancient, washed up cosplayer. lol

okay, really, people have been wearing costumes at conventions (which is all cosplaying is) for decades. This idea that you have to be under 20 to cosplay and enjoy it is weird and foreign - I've been to Dragon*Con, I've seen some fucking badass costumes that can only be built by adults with disposable income and the mortage to a house with a craft room.

you still want to do it, go and rock it. be badass. I'm 40 and I'm just hitting my stride now that I know how to correctly sew things so that I don't look like I'm wearing a potato sack with sparkle trim.
