I really hope this is not referring to the Muslim-dog wank I accidentally started a few years ago ಠ_ಠ

But to answer your question, yes, I live in a Muslim country so except in some Chinese and Indian neighbourhoods, most people would not approve of so much as seeing somebody walking their dog, so I can only see dogs if I visit certain neighbourhoods.

It's part of the religion. Dogs are considered unclean animals and if you touch one you're supposed to ritual wash

Uh, no. Dogs are unclean in Islam, so we can't pet them if they're wet (if we do, we have to clean ourselves with one part sand or soil and 7 parts water), but that's about it. But some people, in their normal extremist way, think that means dogs should be shunned entirely so people here don't approve of dogs. Muslims in general are pretty cool with dogs as long as they don't lick us.

Personally, if I'm prepared for it (like if I'm visiting a friend who has dogs), I don't mind having to clean up. I grew up in a Muslim community in a non-Muslim country and we're all fine with that.

As I recall, this is more or less how the wank started last time, plz don't happen again.

Yup. My Muslim friends in my generation are fine with playing with dogs, they just wash afterward

Their parents think all dogs are unclean and refuse to let them get one

yeah, I think that's what I'm thinking of (the one where you asked what animal aside from a dog would make for a good jogging partner or something?). it's too bad you live a mostly dog-free life though. on the other hand, there are a lot of nasty strays in my neighborhood so it sounds kind of nice not to have to worry about that.
