Re: Boston Bomber Sentenced to Death

Not American and don't live in a country where the death penalty is an option (though I agree with it on the proviso that it's reserved for the henious crimes where there's no doubt whatsoever that the accused is guilty), so I have no real opinion on that either way.

One thing I heard in the run up to the verdict though was the suggestion that the death penalty would basically make him and his (no doubt now long drawn out) case martyr fodder for those who want to portray his crime as something righteous and ideological. In that context, lock him up and forget about him forever seems preferable.
