(Anonymous) 2015-05-16 10:50 pm (UTC)(link)In the anime, I do think it's creepy because Usagi literally acts like a 14-year old girl and Mamoru acts like a 20-year old college student. That became really evident when Chibiusa showed up, because he treated them similarly. The fact that he shied away from any physical activities with Usagi suggested to me that he felt the same way. They might have been destined to be together and dating, but he still recognized that they were at very different levels of maturity at that moment. As for later on...well, we know what happens.

(Anonymous) 2015-05-17 10:02 am (UTC)(link)Usagi is immature, but I was shocked to find out she was only 14!
At one point he proposed to her and we know they marry but I doubt they wait for when she's at least 18.
It's the way with japanese manga and anime.
Clearly, being realistic isn't the point otherwise their parents wouldn't be so oblivious of the fact that their kids put themselves in danger on daily basis (and sometimes die too)
Suspension of disbelief is required.
If one wants to nitpick, Usagi and Mamoru having mostly a platonic romance is nothing compared to the violence you see in that anime and other adult themes treated. Wasn't traumatized by japanese animes as as child, though. If you listen to psycologists, kids would emulate everything but really, I knew that what I watched was fiction and not real life since I was six. Kids aren't stupid, they can tell the difference.
Age of the characters is relative too because for someone who is 8, 14 years old teens are adult people and adult people are very old people lol.
