This is exactly why I try to avoid interviews or other get-to-know type stuff with authors (actors/actresses too). It's so much better when I don't know the authors faves or hated characters. Sometimes it ruins it for me if the author says their intentions behind certain things.

Oh yeah I'm not always interested in hearing author/creator/actor perspectives either. If I'm really emerged in a fictional world then I really don't need information outside of that world.

I know some people take those interviews super seriously and will even argue it's part of canon, but for me if you want to tell me something about your world, it better be in your book/show/movie. Otherwise I'm not going to acknowledge it.
