We had started playing it out, and definitely some of the dialogue that came up I would want to keep in almost verbatim, because it fit perfectly. I could do the high school book report plagiarism thing and just change a few words around to synonyms so that it's not exact, but that feels a little bit dishonest.
The author's note idea seems to be the consensus, though, so that's probably what I'll end up doing.

(Anonymous) 2015-05-17 08:53 am (UTC)(link)If you mean lines that your friend wrote independent of you for their character/s, or that was a collaboration effort between the two of you in which it's impossible to say who did what, that's when you're straying into sketchy territory. In all honesty, however perfect the lines I'd shelve the disappointment and rewrite any of those parts wholesale rather than risk it.
