What about a wine and cheese tasting party at the house for something adult? I don't know anything about these people but if everyone brings a random bottle of wine and a kind of cheese, you get an interesting combination. I did cheese, bread, chocolate and wines at my tasting party without knowing anything about wines, we just passed the wine around and commented whether we liked it or not.

Or just have a nice movie night, pick movies and have popcorn and buy candy from the dollar store. Another twist on this is for each person to pick their favorite TV show and watch the first episode from each.

Or do a fun themed party. Do you all have similar interests? http://www.eatingbender.com/2013/11/07/order-of-the-phoenix-az-a-harry-potter-party-in-the-desert/

That's a Harry Potter themed party. Obviously you don't have to go that far, but it gives you an idea of trying to theme something. Maybe just do a themed meal.

We could possibly do some kind of tasting party IF we can find someone to cater it. Alas, we have no taste.

Depending on what is out, we may do a fancy movie night at The Warren. But we were hoping to do something out of our comfort zone.

....I wonder if I can get them to go to an unusual food place!

Honestly, my tasting party was just me buying three boxes of crackers from the local grocery store, I picked up a platter of cheeses from Costco and then added mozzarella balls, Gruyere, brie with herbs, and goat cheese with blueberries, bought a loaf of French bread, and had a bowl full of Lindt chocolates. Super easy.

For wines, I picked up two reds, two whites, a specialty bottle of Key Lime wine sent from Florida (gift from a friend), and then a bottle of fancy moscato. I got cute tiny glasses from Party City and it went over pretty well.

What would be considered unusual for you guys? Hibachi is always a fun celebration dinner.

Everything is unusual for us. We are a pretty boring group of people. But we have been to a Hibachi grill!

I'd suggest somewhere that serves family style meals or maybe a place where you'd be able to order lots of appetizers/small plate portions so you can try a multitude of things without resorting to one dish and deciding you don't like it.

When we went to the German restaurant last week, we each ordered a dinner we knew we'd like, but then we ordered an additional dinner that was a sausage platter combo with four kinds of sausages, a pretzel, sauerkraut, and German potato salad so we could all have a little bit more to try.
