Why do you have to chase that feeling elsewhere when you can just re-read that fic itself?

They said it was retconned/jossed - that implies it was dramatic back then and isn't now. Plus if there was, like, a huge emotional moment it would definitely lessen the impact the more you re-read it.

Re-reading/re-watching/re-playing/etc. rarely has the same emotional impact as doing a thing for the first time.

(At least that's true for many people, maybe not all?)
