Re: Who drinks here

Wine is my go-to drink of choice. I live in California, so my knowledge is varietal-centric. I love aged Cabernet Sauvignon where the tannins are as smooth as velvet. I enjoy old-vine Zinfandels (there's a fun Zin called PoiZin—and the bottle is really cool as well). I'm not as much a fan of Pinot Noir; I like more structure and they don't make Merlot like they used to. The ones I've had lately border on insipid.

As for white wines, my everyday white is Sauvignon Blanc, especially if it's citrus-y rather than grassy. I like Chardonnay, but only if it's unoaked or hasn't been aged in oak barrels for a long time. Chablis, Chenin Blanc, Pinot Grigio and blush wines tend to taste too sweet to me to enjoy as much. I love sparkling wine and wish I could afford to have more Pol Roger and Veuve Cliquot on hand.

The only cocktail I drink regularly is a vodka martini, extra dry with an olive. Chopin is my favourite vodka. It's a bit sweeter and smoother (in my opinion) than Grey Goose.

That was probably more than you wanted to know...
