I have to say, I don't know whether or not it's justified (I don't watch GoT) but I do have to respect them for having the courage of their convictions on this one.

Pardon?

I mean, I'm mostly using it as part of a set phrase here, but I think it was at least a little courageous - it was bound to be an extremely unpopular opinion in many quarters, and also probably one that's going to cost them a non-trivial amount of money.

It's the Mary Sue... if anything they'd lose money if they kept doing it- and this will drive more traffic from the offended crowd.
