Respect, and I like you, and I'm not trolling, but you absolutely do that at times.

At the very least, you can be extremely... convinced about a lot of your aesthetic opinions, and treat opposing opinions with an almost complete and total dismisiveness, bordering on outright hostility. I don't know that I would say you've been cruel, necessarily, but I can absolutely understand why someone would not want to engage with you on something where you disagree with them critically. It's almost this berserker-like thing.

Wait, even the opinions that are basically "i think ur stupid adn shud die?" Because obviously I'm not going to give those opinions the dignity of a real response.

I know I can be pretty insistent, but I feel like you're making it out to be a bigger issue than it is. And hell, a lot of it is thanks to my fanclub, I can never tell if someone's fucking with me or not.

No, obviously, I don't think you need to be respectful of those opinions. And I appreciate that the trolling makes it difficult, at times, so I get where you're coming from. It's a tough position.

I'm just saying, having seen the way you argue about things like (for instance) whether Joss Whedon is an acceptable director and writer, or which Aliens films it's acceptable to like, or whether Spiderman is an acceptable hero to like, or whatever, I can also get why someone wouldn't want to engage with you. And those are things, from my point of view, that are outside of trolling.

(And for the record, I agree with you on one of those, disagree with you on another, and am neutral on a third)

Cyberpunk was another good one. Deathtoll went after that cyberpunk trash like a rottweiler after a baby.

Hi, tbh I'm not really feeling your particular brand of... admiration? Hero worship? Whatever -- it's making me uncomfortable because I feel like you're seriously overstating whatever you perceive my attitude/personality/etc. to be (and for what it's worth, I'm trying to be less Angry Rageout Guy these days) as well as my role in the cyberpunk thread which was pretty minimal IIRC and restricted to a heated disagreement with someone on Neil Stephenson that degenerated into them making a rape joke and me yelling at them.

Sure, but I don't attack people directly, at least I try not to. I can be loud and forceful regarding one thing or another, I can't dispute that, but A) it's not a personal attack and 2) like other people here can't be?

Those are very fair points. And, on thinking about it, I wouldn't say there's any maliciousness about it. I think it's just that you seem so serious and so rigid on these things that it can be frustrating to deal with. And while you definitely don't attack anyone directly, I think you come off as though you're convinced it would be utterly impossible for any remotely reasonable human being to even consider having a different opinion, which combined with the forcefulness with which the opinions are presented makes it possible to perceive it as being more personal that it is.

Again, I like you very much and I think you're a great guy! Sincerely! It's just the way it's perceived I guess, from time to time, on certain topics.

Yeah, see, that's an exact example of what I mean. Unless it's zero-grade screamingly obvious, I have a hard time telling if an anon is legit or part of the fanclub.

I swear to God, I'm not concern trolling or doing any other kind of trolling. I like pretty much all the named users and I want them to continue posting here. Someone else brought it up, and then dethtoll seemed to be sincerely asking, so...

Ah my mistake. I just figured since someone was being a tryhard up in my thread and mentioned dethtoll they might be trolling more softly down here.

I may have overestimated them, though.
