I understand if you're reticent about sharing details, but it will be really hard to help you if you don't. Perhaps if you could share some of the specific place names on the family tree, someone might recognize them as older spellings, regional names, etc.

Otherwise, this query is about as vague as saying hey, my family came from France, does anyone know anything about the history of France? People would have no way of knowing you need help with French geography and its related history and not, for example, the Royal House of Bourbon, or the origins of Beef bourguignon or medieval French warfare.

I am aware of that. I was vague to begin with because if no one knows anything about Sweden, then I've revealed sensitive information with no gain. I was hoping that maybe someone who knows a decent amount about Sweden and/or Swedish might invite me to IM them.

But when someone says that they are from Sweden or are pretty familiar with Sweden and feel they could give it a good shot, then I will provide specific names.

Are place names really that sensitive? If they're cities, then surely other people have lived there besides your family, so it's not like that information is tied directly to you or your family exclusively. To be honest, when I volunteer my time and effort to help someone I prefer to do it for people who DON'T force me to coax the necessary info from them bit by bit as if they're doing ME a favor instead of the other way round. But yeah, what the other anon said, good luck.
