When I was in high school, my kneecaps started sliding out of place really easily. I'd be standing, my kneecap would slide, and next thing I knew, I was on the ground and I couldn't walk on whatever leg had given out. I had surgery at 18, and it just made one of my legs worse. I can get around the house without the cane most of the time, but I need it when I go out.

I'll be joining you before long due to similar problems. The list of things I can't do is getting longer and longer as the years go by and eventually "walk more than a few feet without help" is going to be on there.

I like that the only times people really comment on my cane, it's to ask me where I got it because they like how it looks. It keeps me from being self-conscious.
