What is it with white people and tanning? Seriously, I've never understood it. Like, if you have a physically active lifestyle and you gain a natural tan that can look quite nice but otherwise, get the fuck out of the sun.

I don't understand the obsession to be tan either. People always act like I'm ungodly white (mostly from anemia) and they give me shit about it and how I look terrible and should tan. But I don't tan because I don't want cancer, so they can all hate me and call me Casper.

Good on you for not being down with melanomas. Consider moving to Asia, you'd fit in quite nicely here, lol.

Our country's various beaches get quite an influx of white tourists from all over, and I swear every single one of them is interested in nothing else but laying out in the sun for hours while turning an alarming shade of lobster. It's like a horror show.

I'm Dutch and really pale and for years all the people I know would tan to lobster red every summer and judge me for being pale but I think there is more knowledge about the dangers now because teens seem to just be pale these days? So that's good.

I get it for body builders, but otherwise i'm totally right there with you in all my superiorly privileged olive or something beigey? glory. I look good with or without a tan while everyone not me has to work for it B) /preeeeeeeeeen

I don't get it either. It makes your skin look like shit in the long run and even in the short run. I'm absurdly pale and I frankly find my skin way prettier than really tanned skin. But I guess there's this weird idea that tanned skin looks ~healthy~ and pale skin looks ~sickly~. Which is just weird because I'm pretty sure skin cancer isn't healthy.
