I know I'm supposed to be sure it's legit, but if they try to determine who you can be friends with, I doubt their cause is something I'd support.

It read more like a 'you'll pretty much only be seeing these four walls and these few people until your training's over' thing than a 'we will rigorously research anyone you meet and determine if you're allowed to befriend them' thing to me. Like, it's so intensive and regimented that you'll be largely cut off from the outside world because no one's invented a way to cram an extra six hours into the day.
