Not into RPS, but they do make a cute couple in that photo.

a) Most RPS has nothing to do with the actors and everything to do with their characters.

b) Maybe they just like young guy/older woman ships and there's not a lot of other actor duos who have the character connection to give it some logic?

Yea, I was going to mention A. Now I know this isn't always the case, but I've definitely seen RPF floating around that has almost jack to do with the actors besides appearance. I think a lot of people write RPF because they like the way two people look together; it's another form of AU. (In some cases pretty out there... Coffee shop AU's, college AU's, model AU's, etc.)

I don't think I've ever heard of people involving the actors kids, but I can see how it could become an issue.

They are married as characters, and people think they're cute together, and project that to real life? As far as I can see that's pretty normal in some RPS: basically the characters bleeding over in real life.

Not a fan of RPS and pretty much agree with you, but to play the devil's advocate for fun...

I think Alex's daughter is unique in a way. I recently went to panel of John Barrowman's at a con and then this little girl came up to the mic and asked him what would happen if Captain Jack met River Song, and then John informed the audience that the girl was Alex's daughter and then 40 seconds later Alex made a surprise guest appearance and they did some fanservicey stuff which I'm assuming Alex was fine having her daughter seeing because I didn't see security con people walk up to cover her eyes or anything.

TL;DR Alex does occasionally involve her daughter in her fan life, bring her to cons, etc. So it's not like a celebrity who actively tries to shelter their children only to have the fandom paparazzi descend.

In that sense, I wouldn't see it differently than any other RPS as long as there was nothing weird or sexual going on because that is obviously gross.
