Nah, all the moral responsibility is on the other guy. The OP has no obligation to anyone except himself, if the other guy is serious about their marriage the responsibility is on them to maintain it.

Why are you assuming they're both guys?

(Anonymous) 2015-05-22 10:47 pm (UTC)(link)
I know it is more natural to assume female/male so I thought I'd try imagining male/male as it is hotter. Way hotter.

Nice queer fetishization, girl. Ugh.

Can't a gay guy, then. Nice erasure, poster.

Um, no. It's shitty to sleep with a married person when you know they're married. It's not about obligations to other people -- the married man probably would have just fucked someone else after all, so it's not like the OP's not sleeping with him would have saved his spouse from hurt, but it's still shitty as fuck in 99% of all occasions.

Just because the husband is clearly the bigger asshole in the situation doesn't mean that the other person comes out smelling like roses. It's pretty shitty to knowingly sleep with a married person

(Anonymous) 2015-05-22 11:12 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah. It's one thing when the other person doesn't know but gets blamed/shamed anyway - it's another to know what you're doing.

(Anonymous) 2015-05-22 10:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Agreed, you're only responsible for satisfying your own desires.

(Anonymous) 2015-05-23 06:12 am (UTC)(link)
Please wear this on a t shirt at all times so decent people can avoid you.

(Anonymous) 2015-05-22 10:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Nope, sorry. If a person makes the conscious decision to sleep with a married person, we can argue about what degree of assholishness this is, but there's no question they have some responsibility in the matter.

(Anonymous) 2015-05-22 10:56 pm (UTC)(link)
Yup. Unless it was something like prostitution, or another situation where the person was in danger of losing their only means of support or something unless s/he slept with the guy. Or maybe an undercover investigation role.

(Anonymous) 2015-05-23 12:45 am (UTC)(link)
IMO you can think of a justification for a time when any morally wrong thing would be morally justified. But it's not a particularly useful thing to do.

(Anonymous) 2015-05-23 03:22 am (UTC)(link)
nayrt - I agree. There are times when it's wise to consider mitigating circumstances, but that doesn't mean we have to consider mitigating circumstances for every single situation when there's no hint that they apply.
