I live in a country near China, we publish lots of Chinese slash fiction and they are massively popular, almost dominating the slash fandom here. I've never liked them (too tropey and hard to read) but I know people who are obsessed with them, and knowing that China is actually trying to put the authors in jail saddens and terryfies me. I did think that it was weird for China to have so many gay fiction, but most of them were online so I thought the government didn't have the right to touch them. How wrong I was :( Worse is that our government also just banned publishing those books, most likely because of this.
