Honestly, I don't think it's unreasonable that outside factors can affect sexuality. It's pretty well known that sexuality is fluid and different cultures have different rates of sexual orientation.

If media sexualization was the only factor, however, we'd have a whole hell of a lot more lesbians.

I once had a friend who believed that anime changed people into being gay or transgender.

What seems more likely is that gay and trans people are drawn to the themes in different anime even if they can't quite figure out why.

Not everyone is "born" gay, so don't worry ahaha. It's perfectly normal to only realise your sexuality when you're an adult, especially for lesbian and bi women because of the effects of compulsory heterosexuality on women.

I'm not sure about making you gay entirely, but I do think that stuff has an effect on your sexual preferences.

I think yaoi has left a huge mark on my sexual preferences... I always liked pretty boys, and yaoi took it to a whole new level for me. how much of it would I have been into if I had never seen yaoi? I can't know.
