Part of the problem is that we spend so much energy thinking about trolling and trying to catch trolls before they start, that we're always hyper-aware that someone could be a troll and we overreact and shut it down. :/

Of course maybe someone really good could get around this. IDK. I do not have that gift.

I think that might also contribute to the trolls' efforts. They know they get a disproportionate reaction and it turns into a challenge for them.

F!S's tendency to call troll on virtually everything lately not only shuts down actual discourse, but it encourages even the casual low-effort trolls to derail things and spam every topic with blatant shitposting.

IA. I feel a lot of people just label an anon a troll and maybe they aren't? The current internet culture is such that we don't always know if someone's being sarcastic, trolling, or if they really escaped from the dark racist wastelands of youtube comments and landed like a plague upon us.
