38 comments, and not one of them about John Nash?

Rectify yourselves, FS.

It would be if I named names, but I I'm not. You'd have to blind not to notice that many of the good posters have left.

Since dragons can't be pets, I'll go with dogs. :) I've had both cats and dogs, and while I do like cats, I love dogs.

Sounds good to me, Case!

Re: MRAs

(Anonymous) 2015-05-25 12:54 am (UTC)(link)
Well, to me, there's a really big difference between choosing to associate with someone or not, and choosing to condemn them or not.

I might not want to deal with those people either or become their friends or anything like that. But I also wouldn't immediately judge them for it unless they started giving me evidence otherwise (of course, in my experience, people who identify that way usually start giving me that kind of evidence in the first 5 minutes).

I always side-eye anyone who makes porn out of a kid's show. So.

No fun modding and regulars who followed like lemmings.

Mark's comedy driven overacting in that one is so bad it's good, too.

Re: MRAs

Yeah, in my experience even associating with the movement has almost always (within an estimated standard deviation) been immediately diagnostic of what kind of person they are. The shit that comes out of their mouth is just confirmation.

And the truth is, it's because at this point almost everyone who associates with the movement does so willingly and knowingly, largely because of how blatantly obvious the movement has made itself about its goals.

Same here. Out of the WIP's I've dared to touch, only one ever got completed. No more WIP's for me.

I guess f!sers just aren't as smart as you are, eh?

Re: F!S

(Anonymous) 2015-05-25 01:00 am (UTC)(link)
You know, it's really hard for me to see the modding as the root of anything at all.

If the modding's been too harsh - and I don't agree that it has - it's been in response to humorless, aggressive, acrid, bitter, awful posting and the behavior of the comm.

I also get the sense that there's some kind of agenda tied up in this, which is confusing to me. That doesn't mean that anyone is insincere! Of course people can have all kinds of issues with the modding and the comm and everything. But there has been a kind of wardrum around this message lately.

Re: OP

(Anonymous) 2015-05-25 01:01 am (UTC)(link)
Oh my god this shit pisses me off so much. There's one artist that I follow on Tumblr who keeps whining about people reblogging her stuff (as in, everyone needs to do it) and it makes me never ever want to reblog any of her work. That's what advertising is for, you're not going to get it free from me if you keep acting entitled to it.

I hope that the incidents were something they were able to move past and cope, or that this being brought up now is something they could do the same with.

I wish I saw that clip. My sister can't stop watching the show, so it would nearly always be on every morning, and it sure is hard to look away from tbf. I found it sad and off that it seemed like the daughters accepted that they could only aspire to be wives and midwifery. Now if just one of the sisters pushed and expressed a desire for life outside of that, that's worth something. Hell forbid what the family would if any of their kids were not completely heteronormative and naive though.

or you're just boring, either way

(Anonymous) 2015-05-25 01:04 am (UTC)(link)
Why did this suddenly happen in the Steven Universe fandom and not, say, Adventure Time? I've seen quite a bit of femsmut of Bubblegum and Marceline but no real backlash from fandom about it.

Re: F!S

(Anonymous) 2015-05-25 01:05 am (UTC)(link)
imo it's not the modding... its the tone of the trolls

we used to have fun trolls who didn't mind playing or pretending to be the stupid ones for fun. they played the strawman rape apologist or strawman radical manhating feminist or strawman tinhatter or strawman dog breed fanatic... who was supposed to sound over the top stupid that everyone could laugh at. the trolls used to play the buttmonkey. that's why it was fun

now we have trolls who are "in it to win it" and make other people feel bad about themselves. they play the radfem but they want to win. they play the MRA but they want to shit on people. they're letting their personal prejudices against particular users color their trolling and make it nasty instead of fun. they don't want to be the buttmonkey ever. they hate to lose. that's the kind of thread that gets shut down quick because it's no fun for anyone who isn't there to get their hate on
