I'd make more but mine would just end up being super wanky shipping secrets.

For example, I thought of making one about Sharon Carter and Captain America but I knew it would just go down this route so I refrained.

That's one reason I don't participate too much.

Go for it, dude -- wank is fun.

Eh, it's not worth it. I just get tired of people getting mad at me for finding Sharon/Steve creepy.

I'M SORRY THAT I FIND IT CREEPY, I CAN'T HELP IT.

It's worse since the Cap 3 spoilers were released. HOLY SHIT is that pairing going to be a trainwreck for me if it happens (which I don't doubt it will). But I'm just SICK of dealing with Sharon stans.

But it's why I don't post more secrets. Plus, I feel like we've already hashed out that bit of wank. Does anyone REALLY want to go over it AGAIN?

it's not that you find the ship creepy

it's that you (or other posters who have talked about it here) talk about it like it's objectively creepy, and i don't agree

When has anyone ever said that it's OBJECTIVELY creepy?

I find it creepy in the way I find cousin-dating creepy and I've never said otherwise.

It's just frustrating because this is what annoys me -- I get accused of bashing Sharon but I honestly can't help it that I find her choice to date Steve (if, indeed she does end up dating him) creepy because it DOES read as weirdly incestuous to me with a side of replacement goldfish.

And no matter how many times I reiterate that I don't think it makes her a bad person, I still get attacked. It's why I find the whole thing so pointlessly wanky.

I mean, no one's ever said it IS objectively creepy, but that's the tenor of the conversation.

For instance - in talking about what kind of relationship Sharon would have had with Peggy and how aware she'd be of the history that Peggy and Steve had - there's a definite tone of "Sharon ABSOLUTELY would know about all this and I'm 100% certain she is aware of all of it, and therefore it's creepy". Which is one interpretation of the relationship, and a perfectly valid one, but it's not one that everybody actually has to share.

IDK I do think it is one of those situations where everyone feels that everyone else disagrees with them and is attacking them unfairly, which is the worst kind of wank in my experience.

Honestly, I find the whole idea that Sharon didn't know that Peggy and Steve were sweet on each other to be ridiculous. The man had a picture of Peggy in his compass that's shown in a goddamn Smithsonian exhibit in which Peggy is interviewed about him.

Do I think that Sharon knew every detail of their relationship? Nope.

But I find it annoying when people tell me that I'm overreacting to it.

If you LIKE Sharon/Steve, that's great. It's probably going to be canon. So good for you! But I'm going to have to sit in the theater and try to suppress how skeeved out I am by it. And it's annoying that, when you're already (probably) getting what you want onscreen, you have to go berate people for finding it creepy.

If you enjoy it then great. But I can't look at the situation onscreen and reasonably believe that Sharon doesn't know. If you can, then (and I mean that honestly) good for you. Really. I just cannot. And it's like rubbing salt in the metaphorical wound.

And that's why I find this so pointlessly wanky. Because if you like Sharon/Steve...well you're probably going to get what you want. So what does it matter if some people (personally) find it creepy? Unless they're saying that YOU are creepy as a person for liking it but I've never seen that and yet the wank STILL piles up.

As someone who ships Bruce/Nat, I kinda get where you're coming from, lol.

I don't always read the comments on my secrets, if I know they're going to be hostile and ripping in to me.
