What are you a fan of that you think would surprise people who don't know you well?

Eminem comes to mind.

Game of Thrones. People who are close to me know and accept it pretty well, but I'm the fluffy anime nerd girl, so I don't think my coworkers would see me watching or even enjoying it.

Splatterhouse. I have a soft spot for anything that uses violence and gore well, building atmosphere and not just trying to shock. (Well, not always trying to shock.)

Football, probably. I am a fan of it through osmosis from my sister.

Horror movies? I fucking love horror movies.

Downton Abbey, most definitely. I hate that kind of shit, except when it's Downton Abbey.

Just about anything, really. I keep my fandom side pretty well hidden unless I get close to someone who I know is also a fandom person. And then we can talk about our ships lol.

Jem is obviously no longer a good answer, so lets say Kodomo no Omocha.

Not to be confused with Kodomo no Jikan, this one has about 1000% less pedophilia.

For those who haven't seen me in years, probably my obsession with college football and hockey. Really I think it's that most people see one side of me, either my sports side or my bookish-nerdy side or my film loving side and don't see the other things.

This is irl I'm assuming? So probably most things. I know folk probably wouldn't peg me for being a follower of RT or Super Best Friend's podcasts, or even someone who is into homebrew game and modding scenes. A lot of animation for sure, since most would only expect Adventure Time or whatever is popular at the time, and would never see my intense Darkwing Duck boner unless I see an opportunity to bare it.

Or that I even collect toys and statues sometimes.

Maybe if I start wearing my graphic tees more often it'd be obvious.

OMFG THE BEST FRIENDS ARE THE BEST EVER.

ZAIBATSU FOREVER.

I didn't think it was possible for me to like you more but now I do.

♥ that is flattering? Yaaaaay listening to the same things! Plethora of best taste ever yeeaaaahhhhh \:D/

It is such a good podcast though. The friends are hilarious, have dev/industry experience, so Canadian, and awesomely sensitive about anything veering toward sj without losing their sense of humour and ability to make fun of EVERYONE especially themselves. I don't even have to be familiar with the games they mention, much less the tourney scene, but it's always interesting.

Mortal Kombat. Especially since I'm not into ultraviolence and body horror 99.5% of the time.

I think probably my love of the Dead Space series and Left 4 Dead series.

I remember my first hour with Dead Space was basically "meh, it's Doom 3 meets Resident Evil 4."

Then I got to Medical and was like "whoa, this game don't fuck around."

(Then I realized how very like System Shock 2 it was in terms of plot and setting and that was it, I was hooked)

Do you play L4D on PC or nah?

DS1 was one of the best survival horror games of all time, no lie.

DS2 was pretty great too.

DS3.... ...had some problems.

I don't know what would surprise people, honestly.

Re: Surprise fans

America's Next Top Model. I mean, I only liked the show up to cycle 17(ish), but I really like the show and genuinely like Tyra Banks, though it is easy to see her flaws and see why she rubs people the wrong way. But I love Tyra and I have favorite models throughout the years (I know Adrianne is a bit crazy, but I totally loved her in cycle 1 and was so happy she won). I think I come off as your typical nerdy fangirl so I don't think people would think I would like such a vapid show. I also don't care much about the fashion industry, but I do love ANTM for various reasons.
