Can't think of anything with little to no following that I like atm. Although depending on what it was, specifically a cartoon or a game, I'd start a thread on /co/ or /v/ saying something along the lines of, "hey losers remember me this shit?", along with accompanying screenshots and maybe commentary. Just for that quick fix of chatting about it if anyone does recognize it. Elsewhere where I might get a question about it, I kind of feel on the spot to entice them to try it, and that if I fail to make it sound interesting, I'm a human failure.

For the other way around, I'm not particularly interested in asking about another person's obscure fandom unless they're very enthused about it. If someone's excited about their thing, it kind of rubs off on me and makes me curious. If anything, I'll likely ask them why they watch it, are there any themes that jump out, and even to describe the premise in their own words.

On FS however, those reach-out threads where folk list fandoms they want to talk about, if they're so obscure imo I don't say a thing. Well, tbf, I don't say anything usually when it is a fandom I know. But look I'm extra for sure not going to ask you about this apparently hidden gem because it'll get your hopes for nothing.

I hear you about the human failure thing. I feel like I have to put my fandoms in the right light so people don't get the wrong impression but still find them interesting. I want to recommend the right book/episode/character/etc. but it's so dependent on other people's tastes that there's no real way to win.

I just want to say that for my super obscure fandom, you wouldn't get my hopes up. I've resigned myself to the fact that no one knows/cares about my fandom. I can't speak for other people, but if your only consideration is not wishing to get my hopes up, I'd be happy to hear from you. :)

Fic recs are easy. But a whole canon? That's a bit harder to do without (in my skewed view) accidentally putting someone off it completely orz

Haha I'll keep that in mind if a fandom talk thread about something I don't know piques my interest. Be prepared for a grilling :|

Well, I assume that the person has expressed an interest and asked where to start. Otherwise, yeah, I wouldn't recommend an entire canon without some hint there was interest on the other end.

Totally prepared for grilling! :)
