... Oh, so that's why the back of the latest (or one of the latest) Anita books was all about Anita and her first female lover. I see LKH still feels the need to change Anita as she herself changes.

Didn't she used to have a thing about Anita being straight? I remember something over at lkh_lashouts about a scene from one of the books where . . . god, I don't know. It's been ages. But there was definitely something to do with Anita very loudly NOT having sex with a woman.

Oh, yeah, she had a huuuge thing with Anita being straight. Not to mention Anita was rarely ever complimentary about any other woman, was always ragging on them or insulting their appearances or... yeah. With the exception of Ronnie (and boy did THAT friendship deteriorate) Anita barely has any women as friends, let alone as lovers.

I'm kind of surprised it took this long for Anita to sleep with a woman. I assumed that had already happened way back, what with how pwp the series got.

Well, for years and years and years LKH had this huge thing where Anita was STRAIGHT. TOTALLY STRAIGHT. OTHER WOMEN WERE AWFUL. So the fact that Anita now is sleeping with a woman is... quite a shift.

(Admittedly, I have no idea how it happened or what the context is here, so I can't speak for how LKH handled that shift. I can only comment on the fact that, from the attitudes Anita displayed in previous books, that it was a surprise.)

It first happened a few books back, I somewhat recall, some bizarro dream dubcon with a female villain. Guess that was a setup for now.

That's hilarious, given how vehemently straight Anita was earlier in the series. I always thought it was a case of LKH protesting too much. I'm a straight woman, but you don't see me parading around going AW HELL NO I'D NEVER HAVE SEX WITH A LADY NO SIREE NO HOW ETC. ETC.

It was a longshot in Anita's case. She (and by extension, LKH) seemed to have a raging hateboner against any woman who wasn't Anita. It was like every other female character was was a crazy, jealous, backstabbing bitch. It was kind of scary, tbh.
