23. 'Yaoi fangirls' are not the only one guilty of doing this. I think it's unfair to say that only yaoi fangirls do this when pretty much fangirls of all kinds do stupid stuff like that.

"Girl A gets in the way of Guy A/Girl B, she is totally a bitch and I hope she dies!!"

"Girl G gets in the way of Girl V/Girl U! She should get AIDS and die!"

"Guy C gets in the way of Guy D/Guy F! He's a dick and should go kill himself!"

"Guy D gets in the way of Guy G/Girl Z! I hope he gets run over by an 18-wheeler."

It's a stupid argument no matter what the genders of the characters are, so don't go around pretending only people into yaoi do that, since it's not the case. Stupidity has no concept of preferences, it's easy to find it anywhere you look. Maybe I've just been in too many fandoms.

Yeeaaaaah. I wonder where all the people who think dumping on the third party is purely a yaoi fangirl phenomenon were when Cloud/Tifa versus Cloud/Aeris was the fight of the century, with the odd man out despised as the embodiment of pure evil.

They sure couldn't have been part of the X fandom, either, what with the virulent hatred of Kamui for cutting in on their ship. And yes, that there is a dude.

[identity profile] asdhjfbciwu3487.livejournal.com 2008-01-20 11:51 pm (UTC)(link)
Seriously, I wasn't there for either but I've heard of both epic dramas (the X one in particular) and it just makes me groan.

I mean, I was part of the Code Geass fandom for a good amount of time and I saw a bunch of female character bashing based solely on the fact that they thought Lelouch (a guy), should only be with the girl they wanted him to be with. Therefore all the other girls sucked, blah blah.

I remember watching my brothers' friends argue over which girl was better for Inuyasha, and how the other girl was an idiot Mary Sue, etc.

I really think people saying "yaoi fangirls are this and this" are just choosing to ignore the fact that it's a widespread fandom thing based on their own biases. *shrug* Or maybe they're only focusing on one fandom where it might be that way and neglecting to take a look outside and basing their opinions on solely that.

I can't help but laugh and be thankful I was never part of Inuyasha fandom. Did they miss the part where one is the reincarnation of the other, pretty much making them the same person? And they both had Mary-Sue 'qualities'.

Oh hell yes, the Kikyou/IY vs Kagome/IY wars were legendary, and those entirely involved het ships XD

[identity profile] penguinfaery.livejournal.com 2008-01-21 02:50 am (UTC)(link)
It took me a moment to realize you were talking about S/S and I was just going "Sweet jesus don't tell me there was that reaction to Kamui from Kotori/Fuuma shipper."

But yes. I luvs me some Shika/Temari from Naruto but the Ino hate that comes with is drives me nuts and I don't even LIKE Ino.

[identity profile] sarajayechan.livejournal.com 2008-01-20 11:48 pm (UTC)(link)
"Guy E gets in the way of Girl O/Girl P! He should get strangled by his own intestines!"

Ah, CCS and Sailor Moon fandoms.

Ahahahha, yeah, that's pretty sad too. I mean, it's CCS, for crying out loud, you can't get much sweeter or cuter than that and still people fight over stuff like that.

OP #23

(Anonymous) 2008-01-21 12:38 am (UTC)(link)
I know I made it seem as though I blamed all yaoi fangirls for it but I'm pretty sure my first sentence clearly blamed the yaoi fanbrats who made fandomsecrets about hating female characters - not all. The overwhelming female hating secrets lately just seem to be getting out of hand and I personally think its ridiculous.

"Person A stops Person B and C from having sex so they suck!" is relevant in all fandoms het or yaoi and I'm not stupid enough to know this. Just speaking up against all the yaoi fanbrats around here.

I shouldn't have to say this but I'm sure someone's gonna assume I'm a het fanbrat myself but no, I'm all for slash, het, whatever except furries because they kind of freak me out. ._.;

Ah, you're right. I guess I'm just a bit frustrated because time and time again I see it pegged as something only yaoi/slash fans do, when in fact it's pretty much even across the board. I'm just pretty sick of slash fans in general getting a bad name because of other slash fans who act like morons, but if you say something like that about het fans then you're called all sorts of things.

I never assumed you were a het fanbrat or anything, if it matters. Especially since I know plenty of slash fans, myself included, who are incredibly frustrated by those kinds of obsessive, insane fangirls/boys themselves.

Ahaha, that's why I stay a lurker in most fandoms. :) I won't lie and say I don't have a preferred ship in the fandoms I'm in but I don't hate the excluded character. Sometimes it's better to go threesome, eh?

Slash fans versus het fans a fight that can last longer than the pirates versus ninja debate...only on teh internets.

Re: OP #23

[identity profile] asdhjfbciwu3487.livejournal.com 2008-01-21 01:04 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, that's the reason I've been sort of phasing myself out of most fandoms and trying hard not to join any new ones. It's been working so far, but only after submitting myself to the max amount of annoyance I can take from any given source xD

Oh yeah, that's why I really, really try to stay out of such drama, but in some instances my stupid self can't shut up, lol. Even though I know it goes on in circles forever...

I'm just not sure why you felt the need to single the 'yaoi fanbrats' out, since you know it's a wide spread phenomenon.
