Right, as the world goes, is only in question between equals in power, while the strong do what they can and the weak suffer what they must.

It doesn't have to do anything except exist as a Superpower and prevent global actions. I'd go so far as to say that America was at its most noble and least aggressive when faced with a counterweight to its policies and potential alternative world power to whom others might turn to for patronage. Playing America and the USSR off each other led to some of the best living standards my country ever had.

That's maybe nice for your country. Not so great for places like Vietnam, though, or Cambodia.

I'm an American myself so maybe biased, but I would argue that the Cold War led us to do some of the darkest, most awful shit in our history.

Not sure the home of the United Fruit Company and the scourge of Latin America has anything to strut about in that area.
