nayrt - There really shouldn't be much "grit". You may either want to switch up brands, or make sure that you're using water that's hot enough (and that you're stirring thoroughly enough) to dissolve all the miso.

Miso comes in different varieties. some people like the leftover crunch. it depends on what beans are used and how they are prepared.
YOu should maybe switch to a fine white miso.

plus, the trick to dissolve it is to first make a paste with only a little water (in a different bowl or the soup ladle) and then dissolve the paste.
