I don't know how it goes in the film, but in the stage play, she doesn't just kiss the prince, she actually sleeps with him (it's heavily implied). And then he leaves her and she has the epiphany that, gee, maybe a grand prince isn't all that it's cracked up to be, and she decides quite happily to go back to her husband and baby and be happy, and then only when she's had this full beautiful moment of realization and her character arc comes full circle, *then* she gets trampled by a giant and dies and it's supposed to be the most unfair moment of the entire play because of all the characters who were good and kind and deserved happiness, it was the baker's wife who was the least shitty human and deserved it the most. It's not so much about slut-shaming as it is about "the grass is always greener" and an unjust universe.
