O rly? I shall definitely check it out. I don't get intimidated by fandom so much as exasperated with it from time to time. I love it too much most of the time to ditch it.
I was actually the same way about it until I started working on this whole Post-Aang twelve years after the series fic wherein Toph is one of the Earth King's top ranking generals and is the diplomatic go-between for the Fire Nation and Earth Kingdom. I've been working more with a spin off of that fic and their dynamics and interactions are working much better than I'd expected... It's kind of writing itself.

Fandom irks me at times too, but if I ever get too riled up (it rarely happens), I back off until I can have fun again. That's something a lot of fanbrats seem to forget is that fandom is supposed to be for fun. =\
Your tangent is interesting--and man, isn't it awesome when fics practically write themselves? >D Those are usually the best kinds.

Yeah, pretty much the same here; though it doesn't get on my nerves that severely very often.
