I hope they go for more practical effects than relying on so much, so, so, so much green screen that Marvel has grown to be addicted to. AoU left feeling cold in that regard. If there is one thing you can say about Nolan's Dark Knight trilogy was that the practical effects made it feel more real and down to earth. If there was a truck that flipped, there was a truck that flipped. Not a CG cartoon of a flipping truck.

Take a page from Mad Max: Fury Road. Audiences love practical effects leaps and bounds over CG. Even if you can do more "outrageous" things using CG, it doesn't feel as cool. One Doof Warrior roaring down the road is more impressive than Ultron's entire army.

I mean, I definitely prefer that style of shooting and direction for action movies (although I don't think it's entirely down to practical effects).

But I think it's also pretty clear that shooting action movies well in that mode is really, really, really fucking hard.

You're kidding about the Dark Knight, right?

Those action scenes are AWFUL. Nolan does not know how to shoot them. They're so fucking confusing. Oh god...that scene at the beginning of The Dark Knight with Scarecrow...one of the most poorly filmed blockbuster action scenes I've EVER seen.

DA

I don't know. I can watch that Joker car chase any day. The climax still gets my heart pumping almost like the first time I saw it in theater.

Have you missed all those gifs of certain scenes in TDKR that show how laughably terrible the choreography was?
