Why do canon relationships have to be healthy?

They don't, but I've never actually seen shippers of this acknowledge it as unhealthy. I've always seen them portraying it as romantic or saying things like "Coulson isn't really a father figure for Skye" and generally ignoring all the unhealthiness.

And also, considering the characters and the nature of canon, an unhealthy relationship like this is unlikely to become canon. Whedon totally writes unhealthy relationships. Very few of the relationships on Buffy were all that healthy. But unhealthy doesn't really fit either Coulson or Skye, and unhealthy in this type of way isn't likely to be canon.

Yeah, if Team Joss were to go to unhealthy relationship territory, it'd likely be more SkyeWard rather than SkyeCoulson.
