17. BS. I've played all the FF games up to date (Including FFXI and the 'not mainstream' FFs, like FFX-2 and FFT) and I thought FFXII was one of the most boring FF games to date. It's not because I didn't understand it's oh so deep story (Which, personally, isn't that deep, but it's not that shallow either), but the characters are as dull as dirt. When you can kick out half the main cast and not notice that they're missing, something is very wrong.

And no, my favorite FF is FFVI, and my favorite SE game goes to Xenogears. Sorry, but Xenogears' story and characters knock FFXII's out of the water. I'll take games like Valkyrie Profile, Odin Sphere (Which had an awesome story), or an Atlus game (DDS and Persona 3 ftw) over FFXII any day.

Seriously, there are much better games than FFXII, but don't get any of the attention it deserves.

Looks like FFXII is becoming the FFVII of the 'next generation', in my opinion (omg, if you dun like FFVII, you just DIDN'T get it!). /eyeroll

17. Much as I like VII, I die a little inside when someone gets overly defensive when oh mon dieu someone says they did not like the game! Which is the same reaction I see from fans of VI, VIII, and X. Personal taste, guys. Everyone has it differently.

Xenogears was good, although I can't help but wish it had actually been, you know, finished. And I hated gear battles. SO FUCKING MUCH. Sadly I have zero interest in Valkyrie Profile. Atlus games FTW though. How is Odin Sphere? I never ended up buying it because I couldn't see any reason beyond the graphics that I might like it.

Honestly, Odin Sphere is a hell of a hard game. Maybe it's cause I didn't grind much between story battles, but on easy, I had a hard time fighting. It's no pushover. But the story is beautiful, I don't think outside of P3, it's probably the better stories of the RPGs in 07.

If you're not good with action/adventure games, you may wanna pass in it, cause it's not an easy game. :X

It's an action RPG, right? What is it comparable to in terms of gameplay? I'm not that great when it comes to precision, but I'm okay with button mashing.

I'd say it's a bit like Zelda 2, but that's not a great game to compare to. I don't play too many action RPGs, but the old button mashing really won't cut it in this game. It's basically dodge attack, run in and smash, run out, dodge, rinse repeat, cause if you're not overleveled to some degree, some bosses WILL one shot you. The game is forgiving if you die, cause it brings you right back to the boss/trash area mobs, with your items back in your inventory even if you used them up during the fight and still died. It can be annoying at trying to kill a boss after about 2-3 hours or trash pretty much owning you. :/

Wait, retrying during 2-3 hours, or boss battles TAKING 2-3 HOURS ON THEIR OWN? Because I did that with .hack, and man, no more.

Retrying during 2-3 hours. If you're WAY underleveled on your stats, it'll take you that long. :P

I've never played Castlevania, sadly, so can't really comment, but if that's the deal like you said, it's kinda like that.

Well, yeah. But if I'm really underleveled I would probably go back and grind a bit before trying the boss again. Assuming it doesn't auto-save, because that would be harsh.
