I ship Data/Riker, so. I feel you, OP.

Riker / Ro Laren IMO

as a general rule of thumb, all decent star trek ships involve feisty bajorans

(Anonymous) 2015-06-02 11:15 pm (UTC)(link)
I was all about Ro/LaForge myself.

Hmmm. I did love Riker/Troi, but I could totally get behind Riker/Ro too.

I'd make an addendum to your rule to say feisty Bajorans or Trills.

Ro/everyone = the best way to go!

I don't think it matters what you ship, OP. Though I do feel you because sometimes I ship things in a fandom that no one else ships or hate ships everyone loves.

I could never get into Worf/Troi because it always seemed like she'd break really quickly and because my absolute OTP of OTPs on trek is Worf/Jadzia. And I don't do Captain/First Officer ships (oh how I hate Janeway/Chakotay) so Picard/Riker is out.

But I could totally get behind Troi/Crusher.

Worf/Jadzia ftw. What a waste of a great couple that was.

(Anonymous) 2015-06-04 11:29 pm (UTC)(link)
seconded (thirded) on the Jadzia/Worf. First live-action couple my 11-year old self ever shipped. *happy sigh*

Oh, yes. And also, I liked it before they even started hinting at it. Like, right when Worf joined I thought that it would be a perfect idea because she's always loved Klingon culture and been associated with them. And then in their first scene together there was already chemistry.

Oh how I love them. Stupid Terry for leaving and destroying the ship.

Worf/Troi and Picard/Data are the way to go. All other ships can sink.

(Anonymous) 2015-06-02 11:54 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't understand the concept of "doing a (fandom) wrong"? So, you don't ship the popular pairings? So what? Look hard and you'll find others that ship what you do and you'll be better for it. Shipping the big, "popular" ships just leads to drama...

I think TNG goes in waves. I've seen smatterings of all possible combinations of everyone in that picture

(Anonymous) 2015-06-03 12:47 am (UTC)(link)
I grew up watching Star Trek TNG. I knew it before any other Star Trek. It is to this day the only show I watched where I have no ships at all. Het/slash, canon/non-canon. No one hit any bells for me. I have ships on all the other Star Treks, and for practically everything else I was watching at that age, before, and since.

It's kind of an anomaly in that regard but I just never found any ship for anyone.

(Anonymous) 2015-06-03 10:34 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't think I have any ships for TNG either, and while it was first airing I watched every episode. An anomaly for me as well.

DS9, now that's a whole different kettle of fish. I have nothing but ships for that.

[personal profile] solticisekf 2015-06-03 01:41 am (UTC)(link)
Your ships are rare indeed, OP.
I've read a few nice Riker/Picard fics, but mostly because reading Picard fics is the thing I do.

I guess I'd being doing it wrong, too, because I ship Geordi/Data and Picard/Q. I could definitely float a Troi/Crusher ship and Riker is the fandom bicycle—except not with Guinan.

[personal profile] litalex 2015-06-03 08:52 am (UTC)(link)
I usually ship Picard/Q, but I can get behind Picard/Riker.

(Anonymous) 2015-06-03 09:37 am (UTC)(link)
Sounds like the fandom skews towards the canon couples then, even if Crusher and Picard didn't do much more than flirt, and Troi and Worf had that one episode fling. Sometimes it happens.

But no denying that Data La Forge.

(Anonymous) 2015-06-03 11:57 pm (UTC)(link)
I ship pretty much all of those. I could see just about any TNG ship working if it was done right, I think.

(Anonymous) 2015-06-05 02:38 am (UTC)(link)
Troi and Worf is the only couple I ship on that show. Maybe it's because I just don't like Riker and they set him up with Troi at a point where neither of their characters were really developed enough for me to buy it.

Troi and Worf though, that I can buy.
