Yeah, but they follow up with "though I haven't yet been given a reason I can agree with" which just seems odd because family in the military is such a blatantly obvious one.

Reason they agree with. Not reason they understand. They just don't agree with being pro-military themselves.

I have two grandparents and an uncle who were all in the military. Still doesn't mean I'm pro-military, so I don't agree with that reason either.
